Wat is Kefir

Kefir is een korrel of ‘roosje’ waarmee je gesuikerd water respectievelijk melk kunt fermenteren. Het is een samenleving tussen schimmel en bacterie. Melk en WaterKefir worden als twee verschillende producten gebruikt. De drank die je maakt met deze korrels is een natuurlijke probiotica bron.

Er gaan veel verschillende verhalen op internet rond die claimen de herkomst te kennen. Voor de MelkKefir is dat hoogst waarschijnlijk wel de Kaukasus. De herkomst van WaterKefir korrels is iets onduidelijker. Variërend van Japanse kristallen (Tibi) of uit een Mexicaanse cactus… er zouden zelfs verwijzingen gevonden zijn in oude Egyptische geschriften?

31 Mei Kefir Workshop

The next Kefir Workshop the 31th of May. From 19:00 till 21:00

The workshop takes 2 hours and costs 25, – per person. The workshop will be in Dutch. I can translate in-between sessions but a little knowledge of the Dutch language can be helpful.
You go home with a big preserving jar filled with Kefir grains and you have brewed your first Kefir using second fermentation.
