You can find many recipies for Water Kefir on the internet.
Kefir Workshops uses this recepy, it is the most common recipe which should work the best.
- 100 grams grains Water Kefir
- 1 liter tapwater
- 50 – 75 grams raw cane sugar (oerzoet of biologische suiker)
- 3 dried figs or other dried fruits
- ½ lemon (or other citrus fruit)
Tip: use glass jars, you can clean them easily and plastic will form a rough layer after a while, which is not only unhealthy but also really hard to clean. Do not use metal! Not even to stir, the Kefir does not respond well to metals.
